Developed specifically for automatic machines with built-in grinders
Quaffee presents the Bean-2-Cup bean range—three distinct coffees designed for machines calibrated for commercially roasted beans. These machines often struggle with lighter specialty roasts, which tend to extract poorly. To address this, we’ve tailored each offering to perform reliably while preserving essential flavour characteristics.
Purpose and Design
This range suits automatic bean-to-cup systems that rely on fixed brew settings. Each coffee undergoes a roast level that aligns with the machine’s capabilities, ensuring consistent grind quality and optimal extraction. As a result, coffee drinkers enjoy dependable flavour without compromising the integrity of the bean.
Three offerings
- Nutty notes
- Cocoa hints, soft mouthfeel
- Suits lighter palates
- Dark chocolate depth
- Roasted cereal notes
- Fuller mouthfeel
- Classic dark profile
- Cigar and tobacco notes
- Lingering finish
Machine Compatibility
We roast each batch to meet the functional requirements of bean-to-cup devices, including Jura and Gaggia automatic coffee machines. The coffees perform consistently across a range of machines thanks to careful blend construction focused on grind uniformity and flavour release.
Why Roast Degree Matters for Bean-to-Cup Machine
Bean-to-cup machines are designed to rely on a consistent grind for them to achieve a good extraction. As coffee is roasted darker, the beans become more brittle, making them easier to grind uniformly. Most bean-to-cup machines are designed to assume that the coffee bean in the hopper can be ground more easily. Hence, brittleness is important as it enhances extraction efficiency, especially in machines with fixed brew settings.
Additionally, darker roasts shift flavour toward the right side of the tasting wheel — think bold, smoky, and chocolatey notes, which the bean-to-cup designers believe appeal to a broader palate.
Budget-Based Strategy
We built the Bean-2-Cup blend around a coffee that offered exceptional value: well-processed, quality-sorted, and versatile enough to stand alone as a single origin in most other roasteries. This allowed us to create a blend that’s both affordable and flavour-forward — a rare balance in the world of coffee. While we are restricted by the budget of what is in the blend, we are also aware that it must still taste good, especially with milk.
Coffee Details
All coffees in the Bean-2-Cup range use 100% Arabica beans, sourced seasonally with an emphasis on Central and South American origins, particularly Brazilian cultivars. With budget and bang for buck as considerations.
Note
We are releasing this coffee as a trial, as we were able to secure a good coffee to be the base of the blend. Depending on the popularity we will see if we retain this blend.
